Product Description

Bendamustine hydrochloride exerts its anti-cancer affect by a process called alkylation. Alkylation damages the DNA of cells, which prevents them from dividing, and causes them to die. Since cancer cells, in general, divide faster and with less error-correcting than healthy cells, cancer cells are more sensitive to this damage. 

Bendamustine side effects

ever, chills, or itching during or shortly after the injection;

pain, swelling, redness, skin changes, or signs of infection where the medicine was injected;

severe ongoing nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;

liver problems--loss of appetite, stomach pain (upper right side), dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

low blood cell counts--fever, chills, tiredness, mouth sores, skin sores, easy bruising, unusual bleeding, pale skin, cold hands and feet, feeling light-headed or short of breath; or

signs of tumor cell breakdown--confusion, fast or slow heart rate, fluttering in your chest, vomiting, diarrhea, tingling in your hands or feet, tingling around your mouth.

Comments:

 Administer this drug via IV infusion over 10 or 60 minutes; consult the manufacturer product information for specific IV infusion time period.

Use: 

Treatment of indolent B-Cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that has progressed during or within 6 months of treatment with rituximab or a rituximab-containing regimen.
