Mechlorethamine Injection is an alkylating formulation that is prescribed for treatment of prostate cancer. It is known to work by cross-linking two DNA strands and prevent their replication. Also known as chlormethine, it has molecular formula C5H11Cl2N with a molar mass of 156.05 g/mol. This injection can be administered via intravenous or intrapericardial routes by trained nurses or physicians. Considered as a nitrogen mustard, Mechlorethamine Injection is a synthetic agent that also shows antineoplastic & immunosuppressive properties. It has been studied that this chemical exerts its curative effects by binding to N7 nitrogen on the guanine base of DNA.
