Sterile Nitroprusside Sodium Injection is administered for hypertensive emergencies and acute heart failure. Given intravenously, it is known to act directly on vascular smooth muscles and causes peripheral vasodilation. This chemical is metabolized rapidly in erythrocytes and gets converted to thiocyanate in liver. It is known to cause immediate reduction in blood pressure of pediatric patients. Metabolites of Sterile Nitroprusside Sodium Injection are excreted in urine after absorption & metabolism. It belongs to antihypertensive category with indications for congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and as an antidote.

Use
